Active English, Livemocha’s newest (and best!) series of English courses was just awarded the English Speaking Union’s President’s Award for innovation in teaching English! The award will be presented to Livemocha  and our collaborators at Pearson Education on November 12 at Buckingham Palace by HRH Duke of Edinburgh (Philip, the Queen’s husband).  That’s right — Livemocha is being recognized by royalty!

The English Speaking Union (ESU) is an international organization, located in Great Britain, that promotes the teaching of English throughout the world. Every year, they give out a coveted few awards to companies, publishers, and individuals who have gone above and beyond in teaching English, writing English literature, and translating literature into English.

The President’s Award  “recognises and encourages the widespread and successful use of technology to enhance English teaching and learning worldwide.  It is presented for innovation and good design in the use of technology for the teaching, learning and advancement of English as a first, second or foreign language.” The award has been given out since 2003, at the request of  the Duke of Edinburgh,  President of the ESU.

We’re thrilled about the award, so proud of Active English, and of course, very excited to be honored in London next month. Cheerio!
